Last year I came to Peru to fix up my mothers house. Part of what needed doing was to re paint it. Actually what was used wasn't paint but a mixture of clay type earth, water and cactus juice. Anyways one of the guys who showed up to help was Walter. He has an eye that was injured in a chains awing accident and now has limited vision. After working together he asked me if I could help him to get a cornia transplant to restore his vision. I said i would try to help him. Later in the year, living in a different place, I was watching some large groups of tourists get of the bus and do a quick walk through of the area. I thought how sad to travel in such a large group, visiting only the mainstream tourist sites and having very little interaction with the locals. I was inspired to try to do better.
Eventually I came up with the plan to do trips with groups of 4-6 people, visiting a mix of off the beaten path and the more popular sites, with half the money earned going to a fund to restore Walters vision.
